Work and family are the two ends where a person keeps on tossing itself. And is not able to find the common pathway where he can manage to be balanced with both. Work and family need to go side by side and must understand one another and the conditions that implies with it. We keep on fighting to create a balance between both family and work.
The following tips can be helpful in some way or the other to create and maintain this balance.
- Set goals: – setting goals are very important both for work and for family. Set reasonable and manageable goals. Work goals are known to all “When to finish and how to finish projects” but on family end goals can be a bit different. Make yourself flexible. Set reasonable goals like spending your time with wife can be done even in the kitchen while wife cooks you can help her out and also spent a bit of time with her.
- Set your priorities: – Priorities are not between family, friends and work but priorities at workplace regarding work. What can be done first and what is more needed what can be left for later. Also priorities with friends and family. This will solve lots of problem that always raise tension.
- Goal limit and time limit: – Always consider this thing that your time must be equally divided between work and family. Set limits of goal that can be fulfilled in limited time. So that there won’t be any clashes.
- Stay organized for every day: – Make this thing clear that work is worship and hence you need to be organized while working. This will help you with your every day work and will conclude what are left for next day. So that you finish your job on time.
- Stay off work in evenings: – Evening time is not for work but is for your family. Hence keep yourself free for your family in the evening time. Schedule your time for your family and do what is best for the family.
- Stop time wasting activates: – Using cell-phone at home will only add on to your work and will reduce the time for your family. Also avoid watching T.V and spent that time with kids and others in family.
- Discuss your workload with family and friends: – Work take lots of your time and sometimes the family time too hence your family must be aware of this all so talk to your friends and family regarding your work loads so that if you have to spend extra time in office then your family can understand this.
- Avoid negative people in your life: – You can’t select your family hence are not able to remove people as per your wish. But try to avoid those who are negative in attitude and behavior and make others too stay far away from people who are with a negative attitude. This also applies on the work place too.
- Make compromises: – Compromises are part of a life when you need to balance two ends. Hence don’t feel guilt and make compromises. For example if you are not able to go out for buying your daily grocery then do shopping online. A bit compromise with family and a bit with work is OK.
- Don’t feel guilty: – If you were not able to finish any work on the decided time or are not able to give sufficient time to your family some day, then don’t feel guilty let it go. And try to compensate for this on the next option.
