If you are joining any company then you must check the offer letter before you join the profile. Offer letter consist of components like Benefits Company provide, your salary in total and the division of salary, working hours and other benefits like overtime etc. following are few points that you can check for in your job offer letter.

Salary is the most important part when you start a job. And this is the most important component of the offer letter too. You must check all the contents of the salary your total gross salary, how much you get in hand and what are the other income sources like variable pay, bonus etc. few companies offer very attractive letters but the information provided is not sufficient so  be aware before you accept the job.

The other point is when you will be able to get a raise in your pay scale. Most of the time this is not mentioned on the offer letter but make sure that you confront HR regarding this.

Overtime is also considered another point in your offer letter. Do ask about your overtime eligibility criteria. There are some posts in organization which are not eligible for overtime, if you are able to do overtime then how you’ll be paid. The earning would be a part of compensation             package.

Other benefits that company will cover for you must be mentioned in the letter like insurance, provident fund etc. Check these all in your offer letter before you accept it.

Also find the leaves that you get and how many. How many earned leave, sick leave and casual leave. And what are the benefits that you’ll get if not avail the leaves.

These are few points to check in the offer letter you can also ask for few additional information like if you have a pick and drop facility also do they provide maternity or paternity leaves.
