Do my off\’s cost me my performance

There is a question that always takes place after every performance appraisal. And the question is “Why I got such a little rise after all my hard work and performance?”

 

You have worked hard for a particular project. All know that you worked day and night in the office. You have given more than required working hours for the project, but still no appreciation.

Let’s review what the problems can be this will solve all your queries and you will be satisfied till your next performance appraisal. A Performance appraisal is not just to point out what good you have done that affected the organization, but it is all about your do\’s and Don’ts. A P.A. is given to every performer on few bases which consider a few points like

Your presence in the office

Your working capability

Your efforts

Your behavior

Your reasoning

All the above points are considered and evaluated for calculating your P.A. this doesn’t mean that you have worked late in the office so your presence would have been counted and considered. But here the case is different. Why you stayed late at the office is the question.

It was because of the project you were handling and you wanted to finish the project faster or you wanted to complete your previous work on the project which was left as you have taken off from the office.

This also add If you are capable of finishing your given project in given time period or not. Your working capability is also considered. If you are capable of doing the things on time and still you stayed late then you are in trouble and if you stayed late as you are not capable of finishing your project on time then also you are in trouble.

Your efforts, reasoning and your behavior toward others also get considered and hence all is calculated.

This is the reason why you have a Self Appraisal form to fill every year and a record of that is kept with the H.R. of the organization.

You always try to mark yourself in the excellent category but the designer of the concept of Self Appraisal form was much more cleaver then you are. There is always reasoning and examples for your evaluation.

Make the evaluator aware of what you have done in the whole year and why you did what you did.
